Lemminkäinen

Short puzzle game. Connect the dots and follow color theory to overlap the little stars with matching colored lines through either mixing two colors or by just using one source to draw an overlapping line from.

In one of the myths in Kalevala, the mythological hero Lemminkäinen is killed, chopped into pieces and thrown into the river of Tuonela, the black river of the underworld. His mother, upon learning of her son's death, asks the blacksmith Ilmarinen to forge her a rake. With that rake she dredges the pieces of her son up from the river, and sews him back together. Finally she prays, since her son is still lifeless, and asks a bee to ascend up to the halls of Ukko, god of thunder, and fetch a drop of honey back. This drop of honey ultimately brings Lemminkäinen back to life.

The entirety of Kalevala is beautifully written, and the translations don't really do justice to the original poems. Here is a short bit of poem 15 of Kalevala, describing the way in which Lemminkäinen's mother joins her son's body back together.

"Sijallensa suonet laita, asemellensa aseta:

suutatusten suuret suonet, valtasuonet vastatusten,

limitysten liutasuonet, pienet suonet pääksytysten!

"Siit' ota utuinen neula, sulkkuniitti neulan päässä!

Ompele utuisin neuloin, tinaneuloin tikkaele,

päitä suonten solmiele, silkkinauhoilla sitele!

Join the smallest of the veinlets,

And unite with skill the sinews. Take thou now a slender needle. 

Silken thread within its eyelet, 

Ply the silver needle gently, 

Sew with care the wounds together.
